Use this guide to find relevant high quality sources for the Historical Context British Literature Project. Reminder you will need at least 5 print sources as well as academic journals and websites sponsored by universities, museums and libraries.

  • Note keywords to try in future searches.
  • Write down names of scholars who study your time period.
  • Scan the references at the end of the journal article. You'll find other academic journal articles that may be relevant to your research question.
  • For open web searches, use limiters:

You must filter by Literature Criticism to find academic/scholarly journal articles in Gale Literature Resource Center.

Gale Academic ASAP

You must filter results by Academic Journals to find literary criticism in the database Academic ASAP.

  • Limit results to Scholarly Journals or Peer Reviewed.
  • Make sure there is a graduation cap icon next to the article.
  • Try a Publication search to find a journal focused on your time period.
