Service Learning: Homelessness

HHS is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and supporting the delivery of essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.

Understanding how various factors put vulnerable communities at risk for poor health and inadequate healthcare allow us to develop innovative strategies to address these factors and improve health. The mission of CVP is translating research into solutions for at-risk communities that are highly effective, sensible, and sustainable. An example of just such a solution is the automated telephone self-management of chronic conditions.

The National Alliance to End Homelessness is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to end homelessness in the United States. We use research and data to find solutions to homelessness; we work with federal and local partners to create a solid base of policy and resources that support those solutions; and then we help communities implement them.
